Looking Forward!!!

Holy Rosary School's 1st Student Body Mass!!!

Today, Friday, August 24, 2001, the Holy Rosary School Community gathered in the Parish Church for the first Student Body Mass of the 2001-2002 School Year. The theme of the Mass was Looking Forward! This was also the Feast of Saint Bartholomew, one of the apostles of Jesus who after his ministry of preaching, died the death of a martyr. Gifts symbolizing the hopes and dreams of the school community were presented and Fr. LaSalle reflected on how the new classroom wing is made of many small parts that together make a very beautiful building. He invited the students be generous in sharing their own little acts of love that together with the rest of the students' acts of love will be a strong force for good in the world. This Mass was a beautiful way to end the first week of school at Holy Rosary and a great challenge to Look Forward with great hope and confidence to the new year!

"Get me to the Church on time!!!"

We're not late are we?!?

Each class' symbolic gifts were placed before the altar. See below for a listing of each class' gift.

Gifts!

All of the gifts we will share today will reflect on one thing each grade can be looking forward to in the 2001 - 2002 school year...

First Grade: The heart symbolizes the love the first graders will show toward their 8th grade buddies.

Second Grade: This Cross represents how the second graders will become one step closer to God as they receive their First Communion.

Third Grade: This book symbolizes the "Read to Exceed" program, which the third grades will be working diligently on all year.

Fourth Grade: These flakes of gold represent the togetherness of one community while panning for gold in JamesTown.

Fifth Grade: This pillow symbolizes how the fifth graders will become more independent as they take their first over night trip to Marin Headlands.

Sixth Grade: This pyramid represents all of the historical facts the sixth grades will learn while studying ancient Egypt.

Seventh Grade: This Caritas Sweatshirt symbolizes the spiritual experience the seventh graders will have as they become closer to each other and to God at Caritas Creek.

Eighth Grade: This diploma represents all of the things we will have accomplished this year, and throughout the years at Holy Rosary.

This bread and wine symbolize the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ who died on the Cross for us and opened the gates of heaven. During the Mass Jesus will give the bread and wine back to us as His very Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in Holy Communion.
